The Federal Government has announced funding of up to $5 million to deliver the AIME program to Southern Ontario manufacturers. This program is designed to offer customized training to manufacturing workers and assist manufacturers to be more innovative and competitive in the global marketplace.
AIME will provide funding to manufacturers with an export focus who are looking to upgrade the skills of employees in:
Using new or more advanced software
Implementing a new process
Investigating new materials or processes and how to use them in the workplace
Funding of up to $50K per company to a maximum of 50% is available in the form of a grant. All projects for consideration must lead to new global export opportunities or create new global markets. Companies who have received federally supported AIME funding from the Yves Landry Foundation in the past three years are not eligible to participate in this new round of funding.
Eligible applicants:
Have between 15 – 1000 employees
Have been continuously in business in Southern Ontario for at least 3 years
Must be able to demonstrate solid financial footing over the 3-year period
Have manufacturing facility(ies) located in Southern Ontario
Manufacture a specific product for sale in Ontario or anywhere else
Preference will be given to applicants a) located in distressed areas of Southern Ontario and b) engaged in international markets, are going to export or are selling in a value/supply chain leading to export growth.
