MaRS Introduces the Excellence in Clinical Innovation and Technology Evaluation (“EXCITE”) Program

MaRS has introduced the Excellence in Clinical Innovation and Technology Evaluation (“EXCITE”) program, which is a ground-breaking partnership created to establish effective pre-market evidence development and evaluation of medical technologies. EXCITE will blend health technology evaluation into a single, pre-market evidence-based process for technologies with disruptive potential and specific relevance to health system priorities in Ontario and beyond.

EXCITE represents a unique and significant partnership between the Ontario Health Technology Advisory Committee, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Ministry of Economic Development and Innovation, Academia and Industry.

The objectives of the program are to improve patient outcomes through increased access to cost-effective technologies by streamlining evaluation and expediting technology adoption, assist industry to gain valuable evidence and business requirements for medical technologies and drive economic growth in Ontario by increasing the competitiveness and potential adoption of technologies created in Ontario.

A Q&A teleconference is scheduled for Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. To register for the call,  Applications to the program are being accepted until 5:00 p.m. on December 20, 2011.
